In the Islamic perspective, there is a clear connection between sins and misfortune. The Quran indicates that misfortunes can be a result of one’s own actions and sins. For instance, in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:155-157), it is mentioned that Allah tests people with fear, hunger, and loss of wealth and lives, and those who are patient and seek refuge in Allah during these trials are rewarded.
Moreover, it is stated that whatever misfortune befalls a person is due to their own actions, as mentioned in Surah Al-Shura (42:30): “And whatever strikes you of disaster is from yourself.” This highlights the belief that sins can lead to a withdrawal of Allah’s mercy and blessings, resulting in various forms of misfortune. Conversely, good deeds and righteousness are seen as means to attract Allah’s mercy and blessings, leading to a more favorable outcome in life. Thus, the relationship between sins and misfortune is emphasized in Islamic teachings, where individuals are encouraged to seek forgiveness and engage in good deeds to mitigate the consequences of their actions.
