1: The journey started in 2017 when Sister Angela of Chimamanda’s friend visited Nigeria. She convinced past FG not Buhari to engage in govt to govt contact via PPP. Buhari agreed.
2: In Nov 2018, past FG not Buhari signed the Nigerian Electrification Road map and approved FG – Siemens deal. We paid 15% and Siemens contributed 85% via consortium of financiers.
3: The project was designed in three phases. Phase 1 is to provide 10 power mobile substations & 10 power transformers. This is to reduce the gap in transmission.
4: All these equipment have arrived. Nigerians employed via PPI are currently installing these equipment.
5: The project suffered a serious setback because of Covid – 19 as well as Ukraine – Russia war. They have to change production location.
6: Those who went to Egypt forgot to mention this No 5.
7: Can we meet 2025 target? The answer is NO.
8: The new Power Minister @BayoAdelabu is reviewing the project to accelerate and set a new date for completion.
9: Once the installation and commissioning are done with, the expectation of 1300MW – 2000MW transmission capacity of @TCN_NIGERIA would be realized.
