↔ The National Conference of The Companion with its 6th National Discourse is here again with the theme: “Between Patriotism and Self Preservation: Dilemma of the Nigerian Youth – “Challenges at Home Uncertainties Abroad”.

The National Discourse-a key component of the annual National Conference is a forum designed to generate ideas towards addressing issues of national concern and One major concern in recent times is the statistically high spike in the emigration of Nigerian Citizens to foreign countries in search of greener pastures.

The “Japa” syndrome has become alarming and a cause for serious deliberation and intellectual intervention. It is evident that the pattern, if unchecked, will adversely affect not only the country’s labour force but also nation building at large since the youth, elite professionals and the skilled workers are predominantly involved in this mass exodus.

Our overall objective is to make our humble contribution to on-going efforts aimed at putting Nigeria on the path of sustainable socio-economic development with a strong reliance on our promising youthful population to harness nation building.
